PKNIC Domain Registration Policy

All domain applications for .pk domain names must agree to the registration policy agreement available on the PKNIC website. Following are the rules you should keep in mind while registering your .pk domain.

General Rules

The .pk domain name length should not exceed 63 characters, and 67 characters with the “.pk” or “.com.pk” suffix.
.pk domains cannot start with a hyphen or dash “-”, and there cannot be two consecutive hyphens “--” within the name. Just as in international domains (global top-level domains – gTLDs), these are reserved.
You can register .pk domain names with dictionary words as long as they do not violate the PKNIC registration policy.
The domain name being registered should not be present in the list of blocked and/or reserved names.
You can register .pk domains without assigning any name servers.
Second Level PK Domains

The minimum length for .pk domains of the 2nd level (ending with .pk only, e.g. your-name.pk) is four characters — i.e. your.pk or 4321.pk. (786.pk is not a valid domain and cannot be registered as yet. It will appear as available on the PKNIC domain availability search, but it cannot be registered.)

The four-character 2nd level .pk domain name must not start with PKNIC second-level sub-domains used in the third level — i.e. com, net, org, biz, web, fam, info — nor the PKNIC subdomains used for government, for example gov, GOP, GPK, GOS, GOK, GOG and GOB.

Third Level COM.PK, etc. Domains

For the third level PK domains, one can register domains as short as one character long.

The following are the reserved names and cannot be registered:

pk · pk.net.pk · com · net · org · biz · web · fam · info · gov · GOP · GPK · GOS · GOK · GOG · GOB

In other words, all the PKNIC domain extensions and types are reserved and cannot be registered as domain names.
